Dinesh Singh
Dinesh Singh is a man of many parts—mathematician, painter, educationist, public intellectual, acknowledged orator in English, Hindi and Urdu, and now a storyteller. A graduate of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, he obtained his doctorate from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London.
As the twenty-first vice chancellor of Delhi University, his ideas on education formed the backbone of his globally hailed reforms. These ideas are the cornerstone of the National Education Policy, 2020. Acknowledged globally as a distinguished mathematician and educationist, he has won several prizes as a mathematician and has been president of the Ramanujan Mathematical Society.
He is currently vice chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Higher Education Council, a role in which he has introduced far-reaching reforms. He is also Distinguished University Professor at the O.P. Jindal Global University; Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at the University of Houston; and chancellor, K.R. Mangalam University, Gurugram.
He has delivered public lectures at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and has been honoured with the Padma Shri as well as several honorary doctorates from different countries.
