Shashi Budhiraja

Shashi Budhiraja has held numerous critical leadership positions across the private, public and academic sectors. An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, a Gold Medallist from IIT Roorkee and a Fellow at Harvard’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, he became the youngest-ever Managing Director of Indian Oil Corporation at the age of 43. Additionally, he served as MD IBP/Balmer Lawrie and British Oxygen (now Linde), Director of MDI Gurgaon, President of the Institute of Management Consultants, Advisor in the UN Secretary-General’s office, and governing council member in industry bodies such as the All India Management Association and the Indian Chamber of Commerce. He has also been an Independent Director for IIM Lucknow, Bombay Port Trust, and Neuland Laboratories, among others. A former President of Rotary, he currently chairs the Budhiraja Foundation and instituted the Shashi Budhiraja Chair of Strategic Management at IMI, Delhi. He has also authored Cases in Strategic Management and The Education Revolution


Now in his 94th year, he shares his views on Governance in India.
